Introduction to literature research at KIT-Bibliothek Süd (BIB-S)
This basic course gives a step-by-step introduction to how literature research is structured and performed reasonably. One main thematic focus is research in the KIT catalog.
Introduction to literature research at Fachbibliothek HsKA (FBH)
FBH offers regular courses on different aspects of literature research (e.g. search strategies, access to electronic media, evaluation of sources).

 

Interdisciplinary advanced courses

Introduction to Web of Science and Scopus
This course shows steps and tools of search by themes in the multidisciplinary Web of Science and Scopus databases.
Introduction to Google Scholar
Google Scholar is a special search engine for scientific sources, mainly for papers and articles. This course introduces to Google Scholar search options and points out ways of efficient use.
Reference management courses
Reference management tools help to keep track of sources and to cite correctly when writing scientific papers.
  • Introduction to CITAVI at KIT-Bibliothek Süd (BIB-S)
    This course teaches and tests all basic functions of the CITAVI reference management tool.
  • Introduction to Zotero at KIT-Bibliothek Süd (BIB-S)
    This course teaches and tests all basic functions of the Zotero reference management tool.
  • Introduction to reference management at Fachbibliothek HsKA (FBH). During the semester, FBH offers weekly courses on different aspects of reference management.
Promotion of Open Access publishing at KIT
Besides a general introduction to Open Access, this course gives an overview of the different aspects of Open Access publishing promotion at KIT.
Learning guidance at Fachbibliothek HsK (FBH)
Learning guidance focusing on varying key aspects is offered during the lecture period at the Fachbibliothek HsKA.
Writing guidance at Fachbibliothek HsKA (FBH)
Writing guidance focusing on varying key aspects is offered at the Fachbibliothek HsKA during the lecture period by the SKATING project.

These advanced courses introduce expert databases suitable for a more profound research within a specific subject area. By means of examples, practical tips are given for search.
