Standards
General Information – Where Can You Find Standards?
- To search for standards, use specialized databases that list standards—some of which provide full text.
- You can find an overview of all databases on standards—whether licensed by the KIT Library or freely available—in the DBIS database information system
Access via
Details
Current DIN standards, VDI guidelines, and ISO standards
provide full-text access via the Nautos database to current DIN standards (exception: DIN standards with VDE marking), VDI guidelines, and ISO standards.
DIN standards with VDE marking
are available through the VDE Standards Library.
- The collection includes current VDE standards, draft standards, and withdrawn standards. They can be viewed on screen but cannot be printed or saved. You can access individual standards directly by document number using the search bar or search by keywords. Using the "Standards" tab (top right), you can filter by individual groups.
- Full-text access is only available through this portal; it is not available via the Nautos database.
Withdrawn DIN Standards
You can order withdrawn DIN standards through the Information desk. To do so, please send an email to infodesk∂bibliothek.kit.edu, specifying the document number and the publication date. Delivery takes approximately 1–2 weeks. You will receive a printed copy to keep.
AD 2000 Information Sheets
KIT and HKA offer full-text access to valid standards of the AD 2000 regulations via the Nautos database.
DWA Regulations
KIT provides access to the DWA regulations via the Nautos database.
Access Options
- Access is available on all campus computers and from home via VPN. To learn how to set up a VPN for the respective network, see here: KIT, HKA, and DHBW-KA.
- If you encounter any access issues, please contact emedia∂bibliothek.kit.edu.
- KIT employees may experience access issues if “split tunneling” is enabled in their department.
One possible solution is to enter the SCC proxy in your browser; if you have questions about this, please contact the SCC. Alternatively, you can ask your institute’s IT department if there is a “non-split” profile. If you still cannot access the network, please also contact emedia∂bibliothek.kit.edu.
