How will academic writing be learned, taught, and assessed at universities in the future? How can we equip students with the skills they’ll need tomorrow? KI@helpBW is the first research and e-learning project in Germany to comprehensively introduce students to the critical use of text-generating AI in writing, while adhering to good academic practice. The result is an online course designed as a sustainable educational resource in the spirit of OER. On the one hand, the goal is to conduct interdisciplinary research into how students use AI in their writing and act ethically in the process (can).
On the other hand, the project aims to provide instructors with assessment methods suitable for evaluating texts under conditions where AI is available. The KI@helpBW consortium operates across different types of higher education institutions and involves local libraries, ensuring that all students and instructors in Baden-Württemberg can benefit from it.
