Knowledge for everyone? Access for everyone!

September 28 is International Day for Universal Access to Information. It serves as a reminder of how important free access to knowledge and information is for social participation, education, research, and scientific progress.

For scientific libraries, access to information is at the heart of their mission. But what does that mean in concrete terms today?

At KIT Library, our work has long been about more than just access to books: We make scientific information discoverable and accessible, support the publication and sharing of research findings, teach information literacy, and create spaces and opportunities for learning and scholarly work.

Under the banner of the scientific libraries’ initiative WEITER WISSEN, we would therefore like to use this Action Day as an opportunity to present different perspectives on access to information in a series of social media posts – and to show how KIT Library’s services contribute to this.
