Reference Libraries

According to KIT’s procurement guidelines, literature must be acquired centrally through the KIT Library. We therefore offer a standardized, cost-effective, and efficient acquisition and delivery service—based on the reference library model—for printed materials needed at KIT employees’ workstations.

Here’s how it works
  • Every KIT employee can set up a personal library. A library account is required to use this service.
  • You order the materials for your personal library using a form.
  • When placing your order, you must confirm—by specifying the cost center or PSP element—that approval has been granted by your institute’s budget manager.
  • The KIT Library will process the invoice on your behalf, charging the specified cost center or PSP element, and forward it to the business unit responsible for accounting. You can track the funds disbursement in SAP reporting.
  • Delivery is made directly to your workstation.
  • Payment is handled by your institution or institution.
  • The items in your personal library have a loan period of 20 years and are included in your account statement. The loan period can be extended. Literature that is no longer needed can either be transferred to other KIT employees within the institute or returned to the KIT Library at any time.
  • You can only order print materials. E-books are centrally funded by the KIT Library and acquired through a campus license. Please let us know which materials you would like.
