Overview

The publication services of the KIT Library include the repository KITopen as well as the KIT publishing house “KIT Scientific Publishing”. Research results and educational material originated at or in close connection with the KIT can be published here.

KIT aims to document all publications by its researchers. In addition to the full text documents freely accessible in accordance with open access principles, the KITopen repository therefore also includes bibliographic data of KIT publications as reported by scientists or institutes.

KITopen repository

  • The KITopen repository is the central repository of KIT. KITopen publishes all versions of KIT’s research results in a freely accessible and exclusively electronic form (open access).
  • The KITopen repository also publishes learning materials (e.g. slides/scripts and online lectures) as well as audiovisual contributions from and about the KIT on the Internet and in connection with online courses in learning platforms.
  • Publishing in KITopen is free.
  • The granting of a Creative Commons license is possible for publications in KITopen.
  • KITopen allows to deposit both inital and secondary publications of publisher's publications. Most publishers allow authors to deposit their secondary publications in repositories. Please refer to the SHERPA/RoMEO list to have an overview of the different publisher policies.
  • For optimal visibility of your media, you can use the checklist "Checkliste für die Publikation von Medien über KITopen" (in German).
