Sharing knowledge, exchanging experiences, taking action
From November 2 to 4, the KIT Library hosted the third meeting of the Community of Practice “Responsible Research Analytics”. The network brings together representatives from libraries, research departments, and other research-related institutions. The community was founded a year ago under its former name, “Research Managers in Motion.” An inaugural meeting in Aachen was followed by another meeting in Hanover. The community focuses primarily on the practical implementation of research assessment reforms, alongside other initiatives in this area. Twelve people from Germany and Austria attended the recent meeting at KIT.
Discussions centered on the defining content of the research assessment and the usage of responsible metrics. In addition, the participants addressed the organization and further development of the community. Key points of discussion included the mission statement and how the group can open itself up to other interested parties. All participants emphasized that it is precisely this open exchange and constructive discourse that make the community special.
A group dinner and various coffee breaks provided additional opportunities to share experiences and further develop ideas. Engaging walks through the KIT Library and across the campus, as well as through downtown Karlsruhe, by the palace, rounded out the program and offered an opportunity to get to know KIT and the city better.
Special thanks go to our colleague Juliane Mörsel. She has represented KIT in this network from the very beginning and organized the third in-person meeting.
Anyone interested in following the further development of the “Responsible Research Analytics” Community of Practice or participating in the future events can subscribe to the newsletter or join the community.
