Through its “Open Access Publishing” funding program, the DFG supports universities in establishing publication funds with the goal of creating long-term and sustainable funding structures for open access publications. Under this DFG program, article processing charges (APCs) of up to €2,000 for the publication of research results in open-access journals are funded through the publication fund (subject to the DFG’s funding criteria).

Upon completion of the DFG funding program “Open Access Publishing” (expected by the end of 2018), KIT will cover the publication fees for open-access publications from a central publication fund. This ensures sustainable and efficient support for scientific communication.
