Project Duration: October 2020 – December 2023

At KIT, a pilot project titled “Investigation of Infrastructure Measures for Lecture Recording in Lecture Halls at KIT” laid the groundwork for the collaborative expansion of services and infrastructure to support modern teaching across multiple organizational units.

As a result, the current project is equipping several lecture halls with technology for the largely automated recording of lectures. A key focus of the project is on optimizing the various workflow processes required to make lecture recordings available on closed learning platforms (e.g., ILIAS) or on the Internet. To this end, the KIT Library is setting up the open-source infrastructure Opencast and linking it to existing publication services for digital media (see KITopen Teaching). In a further step, the integration of the Lecture Translator will enable the transcription and multilingual use of lecture recordings.
