• In addition, we also administrate the Library of Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences (HKA) and the Library of Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University Karlsruhe (DHBW).
• Main lending library for students of KIT is the KIT-Bibliothek Süd which is open 24/7. You will find opening hours, locations and addresses of all our libraries here.

• At the start of the new semester we conduct guided tours through the KIT-Bibliothek Süd for new students.

• A valid library card and a library account is necessary to fully access our services. For this purpose, KIT students need to activate their KIT-Card once, students of HKA and DHBW their respective student card.

KIT research output should be made freely available worldwide on the Internet, in accordance with the principles of open access. Scientific publications made at or in association with the KIT, need to be deposited and published in a uniform manner. You can find out more about this at "Publishing for KIT scientists".

To accomplish the above-mentioned, KIT Library supports the scientists with the following range of services:

• KITopen repository is the central open access repository for all KIT scientists.
• KITopen is complemented by KIT Scientific Publishing, the open access academic publishing house of the KIT, founded in 2004.
• KIT supports open access publication with services of the publication fund.
• KIT scientists and institutions can commission bibliometric analyses (e.g. citation analyses, publication metrics like h-index or the impact factor).
• Our library supports research data management (storing, preserving and sharing of research data) as part of the Team RDM∂KIT.

• Library services related to the topic of doctoral studies can be found on the website "Doctoral theses at KIT" and in the brochure "How to Publish Your Doctoral Thesis at KIT".

• Our library has an extensive collection of electronic media, that can be searched with our online catalogs KIT catalog, Articles & Papers and KITopen-Katalog. Electronic journals can also be accessed via the Electronic Journals Library (EZB) while access to various scientific databases is being provided by the DBIS database information system.
• Staff collections provide your workplace with literature in printed form.
• For your lectures, you can set up semester reserve collections in our library.
• The interlibrary loan service and the local electronic article delivery system (LEA) augment our on-site collection.

• Our media center advises you with the recording of your lectures or other events here at KIT and gives support with our audio and video production services.
• In the "OpenCast-Aufzeichnungsverwaltung" portal, you can manage your recording and release it for subsequent use (e.g. in the KITopen repository). Further information.
