The Karlsruhe Virtual Catalog (KVK) is a meta-search engine that indexes several hundred million items in library and bookstore catalogs worldwide. In addition to the traditional KVK, there are other catalogs based on KVK technology.

The Joint Search for the Bibdia and IDS Basel/Bern Catalog is a virtual catalog based on KVK technology for libraries in Solothurn.

The holdings of the Solothurn Central Library are listed in two catalogs:

  • Bibdia Catalog
    : all holdings in the open-stack sections, all reading room holdings, and a portion of the stacks holdings.
  • Solothurn Central Library (ZB) subcatalog in the IDS Basel/Bern
    : a portion of the stacks holdings, as well as current periodicals. Starting in 2017, all newly cataloged stacks holdings from the adult department will be recorded in this catalog.
