Green exchange frenzy in the KIT library

Second plant exchange event draws large crowds and inspires botanical enthusiasm

On November 12, 2025, starting at 1 p.m., the area in front of the east entrance to the KIT Library South was transformed into a green paradise: At the second plant exchange event, indoor plant novices met real botany professionals. The variety of cuttings on offer impressed many interested visitors on their way to the library again this year.

The event organized by the Sustainability Working Group, led by Martina Weber (KIT Library), was already a resounding success in 2024. This year, the working group initiated the exchange campaign again as part of "Grünen O-Phase" AStA – and is already planning to continue the popular format in 2026.

In addition to spontaneous interest in making their own student digs more livable with a little greenery, experienced plant lovers were also on site, offering their lovingly cared-for specimens from their own nurseries for exchange. Thus, in addition to classic water lilies and aloe vera plants, impressive banana trees also found new owners.

The Bib team was thrilled by the many kind supporters from within the organization who reliably created a basis for the exchange with offshoots from the library offices, and by the positive feedback from visitors to the event.

A big thank you to everyone involved, everyone who brought something, and everyone who showed interest!
